Job Role & Nature of Work

Candidates joining as Scientist-B will be involved in designing, implementing, and managing national-level IT projects. Depending on your department, your responsibilities will include:

  • Software Development: Designing secure and scalable digital services.
  • Network Management: Managing large-scale data centers and infrastructure.
  • Data Analysis & AI: Utilizing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for data-driven governance.

Eligibility & Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess a valid GATE Score Card (2024, 2025, or 2026) in the relevant paper code (CS / EC / DA).

The Scientist-B post follows the 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix Level 10.

Selection Process

The selection process for NIC Scientist-B involves two main stages:

  1. Stage 1 - Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted discipline-wise based on their best GATE 2024/2025/2026 score in a 1:5 ratio.
  2. Stage 2 - Personal Interaction: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Personal Interview. There is no separate written exam conducted by NIC for this drive.
